Teaching Philosophy

I believe that I have been called to become an Elementary Education teacher. My life has given evidence to this fact in many ways. My love for children and desire to see them succeed is one of the many reasons I could not imagine doing any other profession. My philosophy simply stated is that every child has the potential to change the world with the right teacher. I want to be this teacher for my future students.

I want to create a safe learning environment that encourages my students to learn together. I want my students to enjoy being in my classroom everyday, feel as they belong, and feel as though they can accomplish anything or be anything. When my students step into my classroom, I want them to feel as if there are endless possibilities. I want to teach in such a way that my students are comfortable working in groups to learn. I believe that collaboration is an important part of learning and will benefit my students in and out of the classroom.

Each child is unique with different needs. I want to work to be the teacher to take each student’s learning into consideration. Whether it is their learning style, preferences, accommodations, emotions, or social, psychosocial, and physical development. I want to be aware of my student’s lives by paying attention to these things by what they bring into my classroom.

I want my students to enjoy learning by being engaged in my classroom. I want to create lesson plans that challenge my future students and cause them to love learning. I want my lessons to be clear and concise with rubrics that my students will understand. I want to integrate technology into my classroom and lesson plans as well. Technology is a huge part of our lives and I want my students to be exposed to the educational value technology can have.

I want my students to develop a passion and love for learning.  I want to teach my students in a way that challenges them but also excites them. I want my students to leave my classroom having developed a love for learning that stays with them through their academic journey.

Teachers can change lives with the right mix of chalk and challenges.
